So NYFW has long pasted and so have many of the images of
all the excitement and glam the attendees posted all of Twitter, Pintrest,
Instagram, and blah blah blah. But with all of the technology increasing at an
ever so rapid pace and the digital age becoming more and more “futuristic”,
Peter Som has taken that next leap forward and introduced viewers to….and
online fashion show!
Okay so this doesn’t really sound all that impressive and you’re probably thinking what makes this any more special than a regular, live runway show (at least that’s what I was thinking when I heard this)?
So as I read the NY Times article, Peter Som's Digital Runway Show, I began to realize all of the unique benefits of having an online, digital fashion show.
Another really cool thing about these digital fashion shows is that like Peter Som mentioned, “It’s a cross between a photo shoot, a music video and a fashion show, so I think it’s more exciting for the viewer”. Plus, being able to feel like I’m viewing one of his shows and feel like I’m actually there makes me feel a closer connection to the designer and a more personal feeling towards the collection.
Not to mention that although this doesn’t sound that risky in today media and digital world, he gave up his routine NYFW spot, Friday morning at 9 AM during NYFW, and instead had his digital show up on Wednesday February 13th at 9 AM on www.digitalfashionshows.com. You do need an account go view this website but you might want to make one and stay ahead of the curve!
I give Peter Som a lot of credit for taking this step and
risking his name to help create the future in fashion! If anyone was going to
be the first to do this, it had to be him; he’s just to adorable to not want to
watch his show, plus, it takes a lot less time to view the collection and like
he mentioned, that’s about as long as my attention span will last!
Online digital fashion shows seem like a really cool way to
have fashion shows going forward into the future although I’m still not totally
convinced it brings the same amount of excitement as a live runway show and all
the celebrities, gossip, images, parties, and hype that you miss. What do you
guys think?! Leave a comment and let me know!
