Fashion Look book: Madame Julietta (FB 8)

Fashion Look books are one of the greatest things that the internet has contributed to the fashion world. For one, it gives inspiration and shows how to wear something, two: it creates a community and helps promote small local stores or websites, and three: they show you wear you can buy the fashion/beauty products, etc. used so that you can purchase them too. 

With fashion blogging and look books an ever growing community on the internet, there are TONS of different websites to find fashion look books, like lookbook.com. This is where I found Madame Julietta. 


Madame Julietta has such an amazing sense of street style that I envy and reminds me of Rihanna meets the average girl (on a higher priced budget). Although Madame Julietta is from Poland so much of her blog is in Polish, she still shops at so many stores that are available to us over here in the US which makes her so relatable.

I love that she can be so far away yet still seem like she’s so close because most of the places she shops at, I can too which creates a close, personal relationship with her and her followers. Another thing that’s really important when it comes to look books is being able to communicate with them through social media, as well as being able to find them in the first place!

 

I first found Madame Julietta on lookbook.nu, where you can find her at lookbook.nu/juliettk. She also post links to her YouTube channel which I love about bloggers. I love being able to watch how they get ready, watch them shop, take a room tour, learn a new DIY, recipes, and just get an inside look at how they live (does that sound creepy?).

 

 

I really love that Julietta creates simple outfits and makes them so fashionable and unique with the accessories. Whether it’s and oversized floppy hat, a baseball hat, tons of rings, orange nails, gold plated heels, a beanie, or even just red lips, she can make a plain black t-shirt with denim shorts and studded combat boots look like something you’ve never seen before.

Looking through look books are not only good for killing time and procrastinating but also help the blogger. Usually, if they get a huge number of followers, they start getting offered products from different companies and get invited to photo shoots, parties, interviews, etc. which not only helps the blogger but the company. So, it all works out to be a productive part of society by looking through look books :).  

Say Yes to the Dress (while it’s still available!) (FB 7)

If you’ve never seen an episode of the show on TLC, Say Yes to the Dress, you clearly aren’t living. If watching brides go to Kleinfeld in NYC and pick out a wedding dress with probably some of the most brutally honest people they know and walking out even more confused than they were before entered the store doesn’t put you in a good mood than I don’t know what does.

Turns out, Kleinfeld has TONS of trunk shows all through March and April, including Isaac Mizrahi March 22-24^th.  Isaac Mizrahi has dressed tons of celebrities and notable women including Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Audrey Hepburn, and tons more. Isaac Mizrahi creates these beautiful flowing gowns that come in endless colors and fits. From strapless/princess ball gown, to strapless mermaid gowns, every girl looking for that perfect dress is sure to find what they’re looking for when they step into one of his trunk shows. Isaac uses different fabrics and embellishments like satin, organza, lace, beads, and don’t forget the tool! He never fails to put on a show from start to finish and I’m not only talking about the gowns.  

 

At an Isaac Mizrahi trunk show, you can expect creative desserts that have an elegant, yet effortless look that make you not want to eat them but rather stand there and takes pictures (or at least that’s what I’d do). 

 

Trunk shows are so important for that close customer and manufacture and designer relationship, which allows the customer to buy directly from the show. I think this is a key part to bridal trunk shows, being that a bride is 1. Wearing this dress on her “special night”, 2. looking for her dream dress, 3. Probably starving herself so she looks absolutely flawless in it, and 4. spending that much for a dress she’ll wear once, yea I would think you would want to feel like the purchase is close and personal. 

 

So whether you’re there to help give your input or looking for a gown of your own, I think Isaac Mizrahi is a safe bet and should be on the top of every girl’s list of bridal trunk shows to visit and create a memorable experience.

Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2013 (FB 6)

Mr. Marc Jacobs never fails to leave people talking. Whether it is his fashion choices, a new tattoo, a new collection, or one of his runway shows, Marc Jacobs is just one of those designers that always leave an impact on my mind. 

 

Flashing back to last spring when the Marc Jacobs A/W12 runway show premiered, I was speechless to say the least when those big, purple, yellow, red, yes even zebra print, furry hats made their way around what I consider the icy winter wonderland meets the Nightmare Before Christmas. At first, I didn’t really grasp what he was going after with the hats and the hats, the oversized coats, and the big jumble mess of colors but after seeing these pictures over and over again, I loved it. 

 

And I have to say, he's done it again for Fall/Winter 2013.

The thing that really gets me is the themes he chooses for the shows; he takes you out of New York City and into a movie or a whole different time period. The clothing was so amazing from the metallic pants to the maroon turtlenecks. The models took the “sun” lit runway in rich emerald (color of the year I must mention again!) and black furs paired with belted camel coats and short sleeve A-line metallic dresses belted at the hip.

 

Marc Jacobs even had Lilly McMenamy in black belted hot pants, black tall gloves, and ....
